We commit to several key operating principles as a team:
1. Ship
- We believe our success is proportional to the amount of things we ship.
- A bad week is a week we don’t ship anything new.
2. Deadlines are sacred
- Shipping on time is a choice. We will hold ourselves accountable to commitments and deadlines, acknowledging that these may not always be attainable but always striving to over-deliver.
- We will do what it takes to ship on time, even if that means working nights and weekends to meet deadlines. If we plan to ship a feature by the end of the week, and it isn’t done by Friday at 5pm, we will work through the weekend to get it shipped.
- If goals are not hit, we will discuss the reasons in an open and transparent manner.
3. Quality matters
- We will build insanely great things — and we won’t settle for anything less.
- We won’t cut corners to make things easier on ourselves. We are only limited by the laws of physics. “Good enough” is not in our vocabulary.
4. Communicate clearly and openly
- We strive to have minimal meetings — and therefore commit to writing in clear and concise prose to communicate updates and feedback.
- We will provide open, clear and honest feedback to each other.
- We will provide feedback in real-time, rather than waiting weeks or months.
5. Take ownership
- We will strive to always take ownership over our own work. We will think beyond individual tasks and connect our work to the bigger picture.
- If we notice something is subpar, we will take the initiative to make product improvements (even if they haven’t been explicitly mentioned by anyone else on the team).
